Here in UK chemical weathering along granite joints produces fanciful little rock towers called tors. Cairngorms, Dartmoor, Mountains of Mourne. Don't know if you get them in US.

We do, although I'd say the term tor is seldom used. Most geologists (especially old ones like me) probably know what it means though. I'd guess US folks might use "hoodoos" (though to me that's more usual in sedimentary or volcanic rocks rather than granite) or 'spires' or something like that. Personally I love the word 'tor.'
