Interesting about the formation of the chert. I didn't know that. I would assume that flint nodules in chalk perhaps form in a similar way? (Also, you have a few rip-rips 😁)

I'm no expert on chert, but my impression is that typical nodules and discontinuous layers in marine rocks like limestone and chalk result from gel-like blobs of siliceous ooze on the water bottom that lithify along with the overall rock package. Thanks for finding the typos (again)!
